Good Soil Society

Reference

The full Good Soil Standard.

Every clause. Every species minimum. The exact checklist we use during site visits.

Section 1 — Crop standards

What you can and can't put on the crop.

The full crop standard covers banned synthetic inputs, allowed biological inoculants, soil-test requirements at the certification tier, and the documentation we require to demonstrate compliance.

Full reference document being drafted. Expected: Week 6 of the website build. Until then, the summary on /certification is the operating version.

Section 2 — Animal standards

Pasture, feed, health, processing.

Species-specific minimums for cattle, poultry (broilers + layers), hogs, sheep, goats, and dairy. Covers stocking density, access to forage, supplemental feed restrictions, antibiotic + hormone bans, and processing facility requirements.

Section 3 — Value-added standards

Real-ingredient-only.

For baked goods, ferments, prepared foods, beverages: ingredient sourcing requirements, banned additives (artificial colors, high- fructose corn syrup, seed oils, isolates), and labeling honesty.

Section 4 — Site visit checklist

What we look for when we visit.

The exact 30-point checklist a Certified producer is evaluated against. Published in full so there are no surprises during the audit.
